Iced-over outdoor coil
A failed defrost sensor, board or reversing valve stops the unit from clearing frost.
When a cold night on Burke Mountain freezes your outdoor unit or the house just will not warm up, Able Pro finds the fault and gets your heat back.
No heat, no hot water or a gas smell? Call any time, day or night.
Coquitlam heat pumps tend to fail when they are working hardest. On Westwood Plateau and upper Burke Mountain, the first real cold snap of the season often reveals a defrost problem: the outdoor coil ices up, the heat pump loses output and the backup heat runs nonstop, or does not come on at all. Fast, accurate heat pump repair in Coquitlam means understanding how defrost, backup heat and the thermostat interact.
Lower in the city, older systems in Maillardville and Austin Heights more often suffer from worn electrical parts, slow refrigerant leaks and restricted airflow from old ducts. We test each of these, explain what we found and quote the repair before we start.
Cold weather brings these problems to the surface.
A failed defrost sensor, board or reversing valve stops the unit from clearing frost.
Tripped strip-heat breakers or a furnace that will not light leave homes cold in a deep freeze.
Incorrect settings can lock out backup heat or run it too early and waste energy.
Snow, ice or a failed motor can stall the fan, and the unit overheats or ices up.
Older units lose charge gradually, and the shortfall shows on the coldest nights.
Undersized returns in older homes starve the heat pump and leave far rooms cool.
We repair heat pumps on Burke Mountain, Westwood Plateau and Eagle Ridge, where snow and colder air test defrost systems, and in Ranch Park, Maillardville and Austin Heights, where older homes and ducts are common.
We also handle ductless repairs in condos and townhomes around Burquitlam and City Centre near the Evergreen line.
Our technicians are on call 24/7 for no-heat situations.
We test defrost, backup heat, refrigerant and electrical parts, not just the obvious symptom.
You approve a written quote before the repair goes ahead.
We confirm heating output and defrost so the fix holds on the next cold night.
A frozen heat pump at midnight is exactly when we are on call.
We understand cold-weather heat pump behaviour and what is normal versus a fault.
Repairs start only after you approve the written quote.
If a repair does not make sense, we tell you why.
Still unsure? Call (236) 222-2222 and talk it through with us.
Not necessarily. Light frost that clears during defrost is normal. If the coil is fully encased and stays that way, the defrost system or airflow has a problem. Switch to emergency heat if available and call us instead of chipping at the ice.
Either the heat pump is not producing enough heat because of a fault, or the thermostat is calling for backup too early. Both waste energy. We test the heat pump and check the thermostat settings to find out which.
Heavy snow can block airflow, stall the fan and bend blades. Keep the area clear and the top brushed off. If snow regularly reaches the coil, raising the unit on a taller stand is a good idea.
Yes. We repair older units as long as parts are available and the repair is a sensible use of your money. If the system uses an outdated refrigerant or needs a major part, we will explain the options so you can decide.
