Gas inserts
Turn an open wood-burning fireplace into an efficient sealed gas heater using the existing opening.
Whether you are converting a drafty wood fireplace or adding a linear unit to a renovated living room, we plan the gas line, venting and controls so it works safely from day one.
No heat, no hot water or a gas smell? Call any time, day or night.
A successful gas fireplace installation starts with three questions: where will it go, how will it vent and how much heat do you actually want? A large unit in a small, well-insulated room will overheat it within minutes, while an undersized unit in an open-plan main floor will only look nice. We size the fireplace to the space and how you plan to use it, whether that is ambience on a rainy evening or real backup heat during a power outage.
Most modern units are direct-vent: they draw combustion air from outside and exhaust through a sealed coaxial pipe, so they do not use indoor air or lose heat up a chimney. That gives flexibility to vent through an outside wall or up through the roof. For existing masonry fireplaces, an insert slides into the firebox and vents through flexible liners inside the old chimney.
Each style suits a different home and project.

A fireplace can heat a living area well, and in an open-plan home it can take the load off the furnace on mild days. It is not designed to heat bedrooms behind closed doors. Think of it as zone heat rather than whole-house heat.
No. Direct-vent units can exhaust through an exterior wall with a short horizontal vent. Inserts use an existing chimney with a liner, and some models allow longer vent runs or roof termination.
A straightforward insert can often be completed in a day. Built-in units with new framing, gas lines and finishing take longer, and timing depends on your contractor and finishes.
Gas appliance installations in BC require a gas permit, and the work is subject to inspection. We look after the gas permit for the installation and explain any other approvals you may need.
A properly vented direct-vent fireplace is sealed from the room, but every home with fuel-burning appliances should have working carbon monoxide alarms. We will check you have one near the fireplace and sleeping areas.
