Slab radiant on lower floors
Walk-out basements on concrete warm up beautifully with in-floor tubing and low water temperatures.
Hillside homes, radiant floors and multi-level layouts need a boiler that is sized and piped with care. We design the install before we pick up a wrench.
No heat, no hot water or a gas smell? Call any time, day or night.
Many Coquitlam homes built on Burke Mountain and Westwood Plateau sit on slopes with three levels: a walk-out basement, a main floor and bedrooms above. That layout is great for in-floor radiant heat on the lower slab, but it also means long pipe runs, high points where air collects, and very different heat needs from one floor to the next. A boiler installation in Coquitlam has to account for all of that.
Able Pro plans each install with a heat-loss calculation by floor, separate zones where they help, and proper air elimination so the top floor does not gurgle. We explain the choices plainly, quote the job in writing, and test every zone before we leave.
Small design choices make a big difference to comfort on a sloped lot.

When floors and baseboards share one boiler, a mixing valve keeps each loop at the right temperature.
Bedrooms upstairs and a basement slab respond differently, so each gets its own thermostat.
Air separators and vents at the right spots keep upper-floor loops quiet.
A boiler that turns down low suits radiant floors, which need gentle, steady heat.
We match a combi or indirect tank to how many bathrooms are in use at once.
On Burke Mountain and Westwood Plateau, we mostly see newer homes where radiant floors and a modulating boiler make a natural pair. Elevation matters here too: these neighbourhoods catch more snow and colder nights than the valley floor, so outdoor reset curves are set with that in mind.
In Maillardville, Austin Heights and Ranch Park, older houses from the 1960s to 1980s often have original baseboard systems. There, a new boiler is usually about reusing good piping, adding proper air and dirt separation, and choosing between a combi and an indirect tank.
We look at each level, the mechanical room and any radiant manifolds, and ask how you use each space.
We lay out the boiler, zones, mixing and controls, then send you a clear price.
We install, fill and purge each loop separately so air does not get trapped upstairs.
We balance flow across zones, confirm floor temperatures and show you the controls.
We understand low-temperature design, so floors stay comfortable and the boiler stays efficient.
Careful purging and air elimination mean no gurgling in the bedroom loops.
You will understand why we recommend each component before you say yes.

Water carries air to the highest point of a system, and on a three-storey hillside home that is usually the bedroom loops. Without air vents and a proper separator, those loops gurgle and lose heat. We design air removal into the install from the start.
Possibly. If your boiler has spare capacity, we can add a low-temperature zone with a mixing valve. If it is already working hard, it may make sense to install a new modulating boiler that handles both.
With several bathrooms in use in the morning, an indirect tank usually keeps up better than a combi. A combi can work well for smaller households or where space is the priority.
It is a sensor outside that tells the boiler how cold it is, so water temperature rises only when needed. Most modern boilers include it, and it noticeably improves comfort and efficiency.
Yes, a concrete slab responds slowly. That is why we suggest steady thermostat settings rather than big setbacks, and outdoor reset to anticipate the weather.
