Overview

Boiler installation in Port Coquitlam during a renovation

A lot of Port Coquitlam family homes were built in the 1970s through the 1990s, and many are now getting their basements opened up, finished or turned into suites. That is the best possible time for a boiler installation in Port Coquitlam: the slab is accessible for radiant tubing, walls are open for new piping, and the old furnace room can be reclaimed if a compact boiler takes over.

Able Pro works around your renovation schedule. We coordinate with your contractor on when tubing goes down and when walls close, size the boiler for the finished house, and quote the work clearly before it starts.

What to know

Renovation upgrades we install

Pair your project with heat and hot water that suits the new space.

01

Radiant under new flooring

Tubing in the slab or in a thin pour under the new floor turns a chilly basement into the warmest room in the house.

02

Combi frees up space

Replace a hot water tank and furnace with one wall-hung combi and gain storage or a laundry nook.

03

Suite on its own zone

A separate zone and thermostat keeps a basement suite comfortable without overheating upstairs.

04

Panel radiators upstairs

Slim panel radiators can heat upper floors from the same boiler without ductwork.

05

PEX distribution

Flexible PEX tubing makes it practical to run new loops while walls and ceilings are open.

06

Scheduled with your builder

We work to your contractor's timeline so tubing and piping are in before drywall.

Installing boilers around Port Coquitlam

In Citadel Heights and Mary Hill, we see split-level family homes where a finished lower floor benefits most from radiant heat. Oxford Heights and Riverwood homes often add a suite, so separate zoning comes up in almost every conversation.

Older bungalows in Glenwood and Birchland Manor sometimes have small utility rooms where a combi makes a real difference, while townhouse complexes near Lincoln Park usually need an approval for exterior venting before work begins.

Questions

Questions homeowners ask us

Still unsure? Call (236) 222-2222 and talk it through with us.

When should I call about a boiler during my Port Coquitlam basement reno?

As early as possible, ideally before framing. Radiant tubing and pipe runs need to go in before the floor is poured or covered and before drywall goes up, so early planning avoids costly rework.

Can a basement suite in Oxford Heights share one boiler with the main house?

Yes, as long as the boiler is sized for the whole home and the suite has its own zone and thermostat. If the suite also needs plenty of hot water, an indirect tank is usually a better fit than a combi.

What flooring works best over radiant heat?

Tile and polished concrete transfer heat best. Engineered wood and many vinyl products work well too if they are rated for radiant use. Thick carpet and heavy underlay slow heat transfer and may need higher water temperatures.

Will removing my old furnace and tank really free up space?

Often a lot. A wall-hung combi can replace both, leaving floor space for storage, a laundry area or even part of a suite bathroom, depending on the layout.
