Ducted central heat pump
Uses your existing furnace ductwork to heat and cool every room. A good match for houses that already have forced air.
One system that heats through wet winters and cools through summer heat waves. Able Pro helps you choose, install and look after the right heat pump for your home.
No heat, no hot water or a gas smell? Call any time, day or night.
A heat pump does not burn anything to make heat. It moves heat that already exists in the outdoor air into your home in winter, then reverses the process in summer to pull heat out. Because our winters are mild and damp most of the time, heat pumps in Metro Vancouver spend most of the season working in the temperature range where they are most efficient.
Modern cold-climate models keep producing useful heat well below freezing, which matters during an arctic outflow week. And since the 2021 heat dome, many families want real cooling for the first time. A heat pump covers both jobs with one outdoor unit, and it can work alone, alongside a gas furnace, or as a set of ductless heads in rooms that never felt right.
Able Pro works only on homes, so our technicians are used to tight side yards, strata rules, older ductwork and electrical panels that were never planned for a heat pump. Below you will find our installation, repair, maintenance and replacement services, plus pages on mini-splits and dual fuel systems.
The right system depends on whether you have ducts, how you heat today and how your rooms are laid out.

Wall, ceiling or floor heads connected to one outdoor unit. Ideal for condos, baseboard-heated homes, additions and suites.
A heat pump paired with a gas furnace that takes over on the coldest days. Efficient most of the year with gas as backup.
Variable-speed compressors designed to keep heating in hard frost. Worth considering in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and on hillsides.
Multi-zone systems let each room or floor run its own temperature, so the basement and upstairs bedrooms stop fighting.
Moving off oil, propane or electric baseboards to a heat pump usually cuts emissions, and rebate programs often support the switch.
A technician measures your home, checks the panel and ducts, and listens to what is bothering you about comfort today.
You get a written quote that explains each option in plain language, so you can compare ducted, ductless or dual fuel.
We protect floors, mount equipment level and secure, pressure-test and evacuate the refrigerant lines, and clean up after.
We commission the system, set the controls, show you how to use them and explain what maintenance it needs.
Residential work is all we do, from tower suites in Burnaby to rural lots in Maple Ridge.
You see the scope and the cost in writing before anything is installed or repaired.
If your heat pump fails on a freezing night, our technicians are on call around the clock.
We help you understand which programs may apply and assist with the application.

Yes. Cold-climate heat pumps keep producing heat well below zero, although output and efficiency drop as it gets colder. For the few coldest days, many homes rely on built-in electric backup or a gas furnace in a dual fuel setup. We size the system with those cold snaps in mind.
Absolutely. Ductless mini-splits were designed for exactly that. Small refrigerant lines run through the wall to indoor heads, so there is no need to open ceilings for ductwork. They work well in condos, older homes with baseboards and finished basements.
Sometimes. Many newer homes have room for a heat pump circuit, while older houses with a 100-amp panel can be tight, especially with an electric range, dryer or EV charger. We check the panel and load during the visit and tell you plainly if an upgrade or load management device is needed.
Current variable-speed outdoor units are quiet, often comparable to a conversation at a distance. Placement still matters, so we keep units away from bedroom windows and property lines where possible and check local noise bylaws and strata rules.
Often, yes. Programs such as CleanBC Better Homes, utility offers and some municipal top-ups have supported heat pumps, but amounts and eligibility change. We confirm what currently applies during your quote and help with the paperwork. We cannot promise approval.
Clean filters, a clear outdoor coil, a draining condensate line and a yearly professional check of refrigerant performance, electrical parts and defrost operation. Ductless heads also need their coils and blower wheels cleaned to stay fresh and efficient.
